Oklahoma City must rename its new NBA franchise. The Oklahoma City Dunkadelics is cool, hip, and very marketable. There are 30 NBA teams and none of them have a dunk/mascot name for their team. The dunk accounts for 40% of basketball highlight plays. A team with a dunk name would become the most popular team in the NBA. The most popular players when it comes to jersey sales are ones that make the dunk part of their game on a regular basis.
The Sonic-Boom in Seattle is now a Dunkadelic-Boom in Oklahoma City.
The last NBA franchise to change its name after leaving the previous city was the Buffalo Braves in 1978 when they became the San Diego Clippers. The Clippers moved to Los Angeles in 1984.
The colorful name Dunkadelics would be very popular in OKC and also around the country. The name would also be a moniker for other players around the league because the name can be used by player position. Dunkadelic-Power Forward, Dunkadelic-Swingman (player who can play both the 2 or 3 position two-guard or sm. forward). Here's a list of players to be defined as a Dunkadelic Swingman:
Kobe Bryant
LeBron James
Tracy McGrady
Vince Carter
Paul Pierce
Andre Iguodala
Corey Maggette
